I have a young Buff Orpington that is acting broody. She only started laying eggs maybe three months ago and has been acting broody for at least one month now. I would like to put eggs under her but I don't trust her completely as she seems to jump around from nest to nest. Is there some way to know when they are finally ready to hatch out some eggs?

Thanks so much for your input.

If you want her to hatch eggs i'd put her somewhere away from the rest of the flock, even if its just a cage within the coop, that way they can't kick her off the nest and she wont move from nest to nest. Try a golf ball or 2 in her nest and if she stays on them for a few days then i'd add real eggs for her to hatch.
