Hi, my barter white this morning was displaying all signs of being broody, but after a few hours she hopped off the nest and never came back to it. Is this normal for them to snap out of it so quickly and by themselves.

x2. If you were hoping to hatch, you'd generally want to wait 48 hrs or so to ensure she sits, before thinking of putting eggs under her. Some hens can totter in a sort of in between state for weeks before they either go completely broody, or don't.

x3. She wasn't/isn't broody.
Some birds may lounge in the nests before and/or after they lay.

My go-to signs of a broody:
Is she on nest most the day and all night?
When you pull her out of nest and put her on the ground, does she flatten right back out into a fluffy screeching pancake?
Does she walk around making a low cluckcluckcluckcluckcluck(ticking bomb) sound on her way back to the nest?

If so, then she is probably broody and you'll have to decide how to manage it.
