hey guys my silkie hen is hatching out 2 runner eggs and one silkie egg. i really believe only one of the runners is actually going to make it. would it be awful for the hen if i took the babies away? i dont have an area in the pen right now for her and the babies. and im afraid my ducks and my chickens will kill them... i could bring them inside but i have a 3 week old duckling with a messed up leg that im hoping will get along with the hen and maybe then i can keep everyone inside?? im not sure ill take anyones opinions on this.

How many other birds do you have and how big of a pen are they in? If there's enough room, chances are nobody will bother them with mama to protect them. Watch and if they are getting picked on, you can take them away. Mama will look lost for a little while but she'll get over it.

honestly she is doing a terrible job lol. she is still getting up to eat drink and poop leaving the eggs for like 15-20 min and they are starting to pip. i have tried to introduce chicks before and she pecked the hell out of them! i have a pekin and swedish duck in the same pen with a Japanese hen. the ducks hate the chicks i have tried showing them in the past and they attack and flip them lol. also the japanese hen... any chance she gets she is in the house kicking the nest around. it makes me sooo mad! to the point where i want to find her a new home!
