Broody Hen Thread!

ok I am new to trying to get babies the natural way instead of buying them sooo I was wondering what the process is? My silkie Nezi is a yr old and laid like 5 or 6 eggs over the winter and I was hoping she would do something with the eggs but they actually all got frozen. Now she has 3 eggs that she has laid in the last few days and the does not sit on them like I was thinking she would. So will she lay her eggs first and then sit them all at once?

It depends on the hens hormone patterns. She may or may not go broody. My silkie hen is over a year old and has never gone broody, but right now I have a cochin bantam and a RIR sitting on eggs.

I have 9 broody hens right now!! I am working on breaking a few of them and have one that is sitting on a turkey egg (that egg was pipped this morning and has started zipping). I'm going to set a few eggs under one or two of the hens today and see how it goes.
