Broody Hen Thread!

Wondering if I need to candle at all?  My EE is setting on eight olive egger eggs and they are dark green.  Not sure what kind of light we would need that could show what's going on inside the egg.    Today is Day 11.
[/quot sorry for the delay but we have been busy with bator hatches you could use a cool bright led flash light in a dark room I have good luck with my dark green eggs with this method or you can just let nature take her course either way good luck

My hen and her brood.

Hi everyone! I have a small problem and wondered if any of you had any suggestions.

I have a broody bantam hen and I gave her 8 eggs to sit on, and then several days later ANOTHER of my bantam hens decided to go broody and they are sharing the nest box and eggs! The eggs are due to hatch next week, and I don't know if I should leave them together or divide the eggs and give them each their own box. I am a bit nervous about leaving them together because the second broody bantam (a golden Seabright) is normally very mean to the first broody, a very small mixed breed that looks a bit like an old english hen. They are sharing the box peacefully, but I am afraid once the chicks hatch they will fight and possibly hurt the chicks!

What should I do?

Hi, I've got my first broody hen and I'd like to help her be a mama. I'll have to get some fertilized eggs since we don't have a roster.

I'm wondering if I can put my broody hen in the chicken tractor. I have five hens in a henhouse and run now, but I still have the chicken tractor that I started out with. It seems from what I've read so far that a tractor would be a good place for a broody to hatch her chicks. Am I right?

thanks!
Dana
