The hens were still dusting when a few chicks were ready for a warm up, so Mindy stepped in for the assist...

She ended up with 4 of them, they cuddled up for about 15 minutes.

Yes, Mindy frequently gets quite filthy but she just squint and stays there....


The chicks started fussing while I was there, they were trying to get under the hens but the hens were not giving up their turtle time so I picked up the 4 who seemed upset and when I was cuddling them against me Mindy came over wanting to see them. I told her to lay down, she knows the routine and laid down immediately to wait for 'her babies'.... she has gotten to do this numerous times and absolutely loves it when she gets the chance. I set the chicks down between her paws and they toddle in against her chest and snuggle in. She spends a lot of time in the pen with them so they are all familiar with the 'funny feathered hen' :gig
