Broody Hen Thread!

Day 20 and my leghorn is officially a mama to a healthy Easter Egger and during my quick inspection,it appears a cuckoo marans and a white leghorn are on their way. So exciting! So proud of my little exception to the rule.

I think that is amazing!

It rained last night and the little chicken tractor that I have my silkie and six eggs in leaked a bit. I had it covered but water still got in there. I'll try to work around her tonight to get the wet stuff out and dry shavings in. Hopefully the water didn't reach the eggs. I dont think it would have. She has them covered pretty well. This is going to be a long three weeks! I'm ready for babies! :)

We thought we lost a hen last year................crappy weather. wind, rain, cold.
She showed up to the coop with 18 chicks and I know those eggs had to have gotten wet.................

Ahhh, thank you. That's what I was hoping to hear. This is my first experience with a broody hen so I'm nervous. 18 chicks? That is hilarious! She must have been stock piling those for awhile!

I'll be hoping for a nice surprise in the morning!!!! My silkie rolled an egg out of her nest and into the grass today so now I'm down to five. Five is a good number. I'll be happy to get two. I just came off a bad incubator experience so anything from my perspective would be great :)
