Broody Hen Thread!

They rarely get up the last day, sometimes the last two days...each hen will develop her own routine which you may get used to but with a new broody you just have to watch and see.
Well that's good news! Maybe they are chirping and I can't hear it with all the barriers and not being able to move her. Still has not come out for a break.

I'm hoping pepper starts to hatch tonight/ tomorrow. She never ended up taking her break today. So it's been 32 hours since her last break.

That's for sure! It's been 32/33 hrs. Now the sun is down. Maybe some chirps tonight ?
You said in an earlier post that you set her in the evening on the 13th.... so you won't have hatching until tomorrow afternoon or evening at the earliest I would think. Don't stress the hen out by checking on her too much...
The due date is actually on Tuesday.

Ok, perfect! I hope she gets up and eats , stretches ect... Before Tuesday. Nature is crazy!

Ok so we went to check on roxy(our boody hen) today, just now actually and 5 chicks were already hatched so we decided the move her inside. She was not happy about it at all and took a nice big broody poo on the spare bed. We put her in a big cage with a light, food and water. The cage has wood shavings and hay in it. She didn't get on the eggs, we had to move them underneath her but she's sitting on them now. So she's under a desk and I hung curtains so she is enclosed. I hope it all works out. Her little babies are absolutely adorable!!!

Glad I'm not the only one with a broody living in the house! My gal has 3 weeks to go with 10 eggs under her. She is so used to everyone coming and going that her nest box is pretty much part of the scenery now... She still has a pretty strict No Mop Zone where she won't let me clean, but aside from making sure she has food and water, the family just leaves her alone to do her job...
