My Japanese bantams have been my most regular broodies and Angry Bird will accept older and all babies without fuss....

Our hens are teaching the Littles to roost, they taught them the ramp to the lower shelf (about 3.5ft from floor) and we did put a box there that they sometimes use, but one of his hens decided they were big enough for the top shelf (an 18" jump up from the lower shelf)

And the rest of them settling in... There is a heat lamp in the pen since most of the ducklings are too big to get under her now...at only 3 days old

This is my broody hen at the moment. I wish she would stop her broodiness! This breed is more broody then I thought faverolles are the sweetest breed but they aren't even a year old yet and I have had two go broody.

I usually just let them be, though the chicks are certainly old enough to separate if you plan to sell them or if it is of particular interest to get the broody back to egging. I would expect her to be ready to start egging again within a few weeks anyway, unless she is shut down for the season due to low light and molting anyways.
