I have a broody hen that wants to start her own family. I am will to give her some eggs to hatch but am just concerned on weather or not she can keep them warm enough. Temps average it the low 70s this time of year but with the cold fronts passing through it can get down to the low 40s and up as high as the low 80s. Can she keep them at the right temp for them to develop or should I wait until it warms up a bit?

NO WORRIES. She'll keep them plenty warm. Give her the fertile eggs.

My temps have been almost identical to yours and my hen has five week old chicks now.

This is exactly what I was hoping to hear. Thank you so much for your reply and I will give her some fertile W/BW Ameru, BCMarans and a some RIRed eggs tonight.
Have a great day!
God bless!

Sorry I had to laugh, when you thought those temps were cold

Yes your hen will do fine with the eggs, just make sure that she is able to fully cover them all:)
