Does anyone have any pics of their hen with her chicks in their separate cage? I am thinking on using a rabbit hutch for mine. Any thoughts???

I have 2 wire rabbit cages that are on wheels, we just got them from a friend of ours, as he was cleaning out his garage...Wouldnt you know I had 2 hens go broody, and I needed somewhere to put them to keep them seperate from our other girls...and each other...The rabbit cages are working well...I put a mixture of straw and shavings in the bottom, have a waterer on the side, and I bought a little giant rabbit feeder to hang on the inside as well, its like a miniature chicken feeder that you can fill up and hang on the side, so I dont have to disturb them all the time with the food and water...They seem to be doing real well, have their nests all formed nicely...We are on day 6 of this hatching process for the first time...So far, so good...I dont have a picture right now of the hens in their cages, but I can post one tomorrow...

If you do a search and find my thread with all my broodies on it you can see them in rabbit hutch boxes, wooden boxes, dog kennels, horse troughs, you name it.

I kept my broody & babies in a dog crate- she wasn't good at defending them from the top hen. When that got a bit small for her, I added a rabbit cage door to door. I also added a small drawer of sand that she appreciated for bathing.

This is our little set up...I am sure once the chicks come, it will be fine for a bit, but will eventually have to move them as she will want to teach them to be chickens....
