I gave a hen that is broody and yesterday I saw her poop and there were worms in her poop. I started VermX this morning. She had another large poop with worms this afternoon. I only have two chickens and they free range during the day, they eat worms, grubs, lizards and anything else they can catch. I keep the poop picked up as I find it but they like to dig in my compost pile which of course has chicken poop in it. This is our second bout with worms. I only have had them chickens since Sept 2012. Do free range chickens get worms more often? Would it be better if I left them in their pen?

Those are large roundworms. For your 2 hens, purchase Safeguard liquid goat wormer. Use a syringe without a needle. Dosage is 1/2cc/ml given orally undiluted to each chicken. Repeat dosing them again in 10 days. There's a 14 day withdrawal period after last dosing.

Thanks. Do you think the hens are getting the worms from being free range? I keep the coop super clean and pick up the poop from the ground.

Hen pooped a lot of worms after just one dose of VermX! Hope this keeps working!

VermX isnt a wormer. Purchase a real wormer like the Safeguard. Worm eggs are everywhere in the soil, the grass they eat, insects. It's best to start a worming schedule according to your soil conditions/environment.

I have the same situation. My broody has never been wormed, so I was planning on starting with Wazine and following up with Valbazen. Since she is broody, I questioned whether she would drink enough water dosed with Wazine for it to be effective. Is that why you suggested just using safeguard for both doses? If so, would Valbazen be fine instead since I have it already?

I was planning on worming my whole flock when it cooled down a bit since they are stressed from the heat and humidity. Would you suggest worming everybody now instead of waiting for cooler temps, using the assumption that if my broody has enough of an infestation that roundworms are in her poo that it is likely that others in the flock have worms too?
