IS there a way to help a hen be broody? Just curious. I usually just let nature take its course but neither of my hens seemed to want to brood this year

ThanksI recall a thread a long while ago on this subject where a member mentioned some interventions that one could try. Maybe use the search box and see what pops up.
I tried thatI usually leave a clutch of eggs in the nest box if I want a hen to go broody. Not for too long though, to avoid the eggs becoming rotten/eaten. Wooden/fake eggs would probably be the best idea.
Maybe she just doesn't wanna be a mama yet?I tried thatMaybe she just doesn't wanna be a mama yet?
She is a leggern rir cross and is 1 1/2 years oldMaybe. She will decide if/when she wants to set. As far as I know, there are no sure ways to make a hen go broody. Best thing to do is wait and see. Some breeds are also more prone to going broody than others. What breed is your hen?

) of breeds. My RIRs prior have been great. Like the new wordHas she gone broody before? As far as I know, leghorns and RIRs aren't the 'broodiest' (I think I just made up a new word) of breeds.
I just want babies
Agreed, as a rule. The posts I recall involved regulating feed, among others. Not sure I'd even try with that cross breed though.Has she gone broody before? As far as I know, leghorns and RIRs aren't the 'broodiest' (I think I just made up a new word) of breeds.
