Broody hen

I have a broody hen who started sitting on a clutch of eggs 5 days ago, I have not seen her off if eggs until today. The eggs are cool and she had had dark diarrhea,is this normal, will she sit on them again? How long can she be off eggs before they are a loss?

Sometimes they get up to get food and water. That’s normal. The poop, that’s normal too, that happenes when they don’t have a lot of food. If she continues to get off her eggs, keep the tread updated. Until then, let Mother Nature do her thing!

When I walked out an hour ago she was back on the eggs this is not my first time with chickens but my first time with roosters and a broody hen with the real possibility of chicks
