I need help, I don't know what my hen is doing. I think that she is broody and I have been waiting for this, but is she? She spent a good amount of the morning pecking at the hay and wandering away from the flock. After a few hours, she went to the back of the coop and leaned against a corner and strated to dig up the hay, making a hole and then sitting in it, the usual. She then started to do something unusual, she picked up the hay and started to stuf it under herself a bit and onto her back. She likes me and she only squaked a bit the first time I tried to get close but then stopped, she also had her wings drooped a bit from her body and was fluffed up.
-ps I hope that she is broody and ok!

How old is she and how long has she been laying?
Where does she lay, if she does?

Here are my go-to signs of a broody;
Is she on nest most the day and all night?
When you pull her out of nest and put her on the ground, does she flatten right back out into a fluffy screeching pancake?
Does she walk around making a low cluckcluckcluckcluckcluck(ticking bomb) sound on her way back to the nest?
Are there feathers in the nest, and missing from her breast/belly?
If so, then she is probably broody and you'll have to decide how to manage it.
