Broody hen??

She’s laid before, but this is the first time she’s demonstrated this behavior

Im like, very, very confident this isn’t the case, but its just about the easiest thing you could do. Might as well check her vent for prolapse and egg bound.
It just takes a few seconds, so why not check. I would say shes broody though.
 
Most surefire test of a broody is they want to sit in a nest day and night (this is assuming you don't have birds with a bad habit of sleeping in the nests, which makes it harder to tell).

Other things to check: puffing up, flattening down in the nest, a bare patch on their bellies (they'll rip out their own feathers), a tik-tik-tik noise.
