Leave her sit for about a week on any egg and when you know she is not going to move put the eggs you want to hatch under her .I only got hens last September and I have had 5 broodys already .The first one sat for 3 and a half weeks on nothing and then got up ,the next two a friend gave me eggs and once they had sat for about week I put the eggs under them and they hatched 7 out of 7 but the b.o. stood on the first one .I said I would only do it once

but now I have 6 cuckoo silkie eggs that I bought on ebay under a silkie and another silkie sitting so I might divide the eggs between them ,hatch day is Sunday.

Maybe this is an "uh... duh" but you do need a rooster.

Provide a clean comfy nesting box... and a few nest eggs (fake eggs) to encourage her to lay & set in that spot.

If she sets steady for 2-3 days, then you might just have yourself a broody! Don't let her set on real fertile good eggs until she has proven she is really truly broody. You can use those few days to collect fertile eggs for her to set on... let them set in an egg carton @ room temp. turning several times a day. If she proves herself, then give them to her and let her go for it!

It is a joy to have a good broody!
