Hi, I am new to the BYC forum, but have been visiting for about a year. Presently, I have 6 pullets, 4 EEs and 2 Buff Orpington(at 20 weeks) But my question is with one of my EEs who was laying nice eggs for about a month(she is seven months) and now she has been broody for 2 weeks. I thought this was kind of young to be broody but does anybody have any suggestions to stop her brooding? I read about the wire cage method and wonder if should try this.

Hi, and welcome to BYC! I have not had this problem but have read so much about it that I can pretty confidently say the wire cage method, especially the swinging wire cage, seems to work the best. I've heard of dipping their bottoms in ice water (Ugh!). If it was me I'd go for the wire cage!

Welcome to BYC. Put her in a cage away from the others where they cant see each other for 1 week. Provide feed and fresh water for her. If one week isnt enough, increase isolation to 2 weeks.
