What do I do with a broody hen that keeps getting broody every 3 weeks !! I started having hens for the eggs . I have 7 total . Two which are about 12 weeks old . The other hens are 1 year old . The problem is that she goes broody every three weeks stay s broody for 3 weeks stops then lays egges for 3 weeks and then goes back again !! Not to mention shes a loud mouth ! She wakes up at 5:30 am and starts to make all kinds of noises and loud ! I 'm sorry to say that our most sweetest hen we have when shes not broody she loves to be picked up and held ,hugged and kissed ! Also that my sons first hen and his favorite too . I asked him if can eat it # 1 he said "NO!" I understand . # 2 i asked if we can give it to a friend ? "NO" . Any Ideas ???? HELP !

I would keep taking her off of her nest and putting her on the ground. If that doesn't work, try moving her to a different area if it is possible. If that doesn't work put her in a cage that has a wire bottom- if they can't get the bottom of the nest warm they won't stay broody.

I do take her off the nest every chance we get . i lock her out of the nesting boxes but that ruins it for the other hens that need it . i might just ry someyhing with a cage or do y ou think if i put wire in the box that might work ?
thank s again

hearing what works for everyone I would say as long as you put wire under the hen and space between the bottom it should work. The important part is air flow under the hen.
