i have 2 chickens 1 golden top and 1 orppingtion they have both gone broody for about 3 weeks now tryed locking them out of the pen but nothing working so i have got 12 eggs post to me have put 6 eggs under each chicken do i take them off the nest to eat and drink as they wont come out on there own and for how long

No, you do not need to take them off the nest to eat and drink; they *will* come out on their own, very briefly, to do that (and leave a rather large poo

) before returning to the eggs.

As for giving them 6 each, it may not stay that way

they will tend to "steal" each others eggs and that is quite normal.

Some hens do indeed sit so tightly that they should be removed from the nest daily for a little walk around. If you see them off the nest on their own it is probably not nescessary.
 
no the chickens r not coming out at all theres no trace of them feeding or drinking and no poo

I wouldn't worry unless they've been sitting like this for 2 or more days without getting up. If they refuse to leave the nest you can/should remove them and put them in the run with some food and water now and then. Remember broodies don't need to eat as much as non-broody, laying hens, just enough for body maintenance, but they do need water, especially if it's warm.
 
thanks for the advise only put eggs under the chickens today so when i get them off to feed for how long are the eggs ok for do i need to put anything over them like a blanket ors something

sounds like some good advice. we got a little bantom that we think is giong broody, she's been sitting four 4 days now and we got our fingers crossed :)
