Im new to chicken raising. I have a little hen who has been sitting on and egg for three weeks now. I just checked her and the egg is cracking.
She has taken up residence in an unoccupied bunny hutch. She has hay, food and water there with her and I close up the doors at night. But I have no idea what to do for the chick that's about to be born! For some reason, I am sooo surprised to see the egg hatching. It's cold here at night, last night down to 36 degrees. Once the little one hatches do I just let Mama do her thing and supply water and feed? Maybe hook up a heat lamp in there?
Any advice or links would be appreciated! Thank you!
