What is the length of time a hen will stay broody if I continue to take the eggs from her?

I have 4 nest boxes and she stays in just one. 2 other layers so far, with 3 expecting any day. Not sure if that makes any difference other than they try and get in with her from time to time.

I wasn't sure she was really broody but noticed yesterday that her breast feathers are gone...

If not allowing her to hatch eggs. Put her in a Broody breaker. A wire bottom crate so her belly Cools to break her from her trance. Elevated off the ground. Not healthy to Brood without a cause. 21 days is a general time for hatching.

How long do I need to keep er in the cage? Thank you.

Are you wanting her to stop,
Or are you wanting her to brood long enough to get some hatching eggs?
I would love for her to hatch a clutch if the weather was warmer, but I think I have another 6-8 weeks where the weather will stay in the 70s here. and this would be my first brooding chicks. I am worried about the location of the nesting box she choose. higher off the ground. I would worry.

You set up a Brooder area for her in a Big Brooder with a nest and the eggs she will set and raise them with success.
I do all the time.
