Currently I have two hens that want to live in their nesting box they have shed out the feathers on their stomachs for brooding eggs they're not even laying eggs anymore they're sitting on somebody else's eggs just to have an egg. I want to break that and get them back in the cycle any suggestions all I've been doing is dumping them out of their nesting box in fact I put them over the fence and separated him from the flock and all they do is Pace the fence fence line with their feathers all flared out looking like a turkey rather than a chicken

I'm dealing with a broody right now. I use a small covered dog exercise pen, put the broody(s) in there with some food and water, and give her about 3 days in there. Once she stops puffing up and squawking I test her by letting her out once a day, and if she doesn't go rushing back to the nest box for the rest of the day then she's broken for that cycle.
