Meh. I've had 6 or 7 go broody in their first year out of maybe 40.

My neighbors chicken went broody and is definitely under one. My chickens that are 1 year and a few months are now both broody, and going to hatch their first clutches ( probably would have gone broody earlier if I had let them). But some of mine that are just a few months short of a year haven't even given it a single thought.
