Broody- How about incubating some eggs?

If you really want her to be broody I'd lock her in that brooder area and block the window so it is pretty dark. I think it being dark helps them settle. I'd keep her away from her old nest (unless you are willing for her to incubate and hatch there) until all signs of being broody are gone. Either break her or don't.

Agree with that.

The tween has let her back into the main run (tweens are not known for their patience). So, if this hen (named Clover) decides to set on the regular nests, as before, then we will need to decide to either break her or do as you suggest - keep her in the brooder and make it a bit darker to possibly hatch some eggs. We will check later today to see where Clover is at: running around, being a chicken, or in her favorite nest box deciding to be broody. Since we are relatively new at all this, we are learning as we go!

I personally wouldn't let her set again so soon and would tell the kid... sorry this hen is still growing and her health is more important. She will be broody again... so soon is an indicator that you have an excessive broody on your hands.... over and over again! Maybe plan ahead for next time??

Agree, she hasn't had adequate recovery time from her last brood. Having her brood again especially in extreme temperatures would be detrimental to her and wouldn't give her chicks the best start. I'd have to plan the next brood as a springtime event, it would be better for everyone.:)
