Broody? How to fix?

The run is pretty much pred proof but i don't have a small cage. I got her in chicken jail now and I'll see if works letting her in the coup at night. If it doesn't work then I'll have to buy a small cage to put in the run.

She is all better now!

Okay, so the bird jail didn't work. Too annoying to make sure it was in the shade.

The ice packs didn't seem to help either

So what I did was late enough into the morning i would open the hatch for the eggs and take the eggs out. Take the chicken out and put somewhere in shade and then leave the hatch open. She didn't want to be in there anymore with the hatch open. Took about a week and now she is all better

Wire cages work the best. It's been my experience though that any whom have been given a chance to brood will only go broody again within a few weeks of you "breaking" them. Plus some just have a stronger urge to brood regardless. Those that I've had like that, just end up letting them get all broody and with no offspring they get over it. It's good to do the wire cage for at least 3 days (without them coming out of it AT ALL) and that will normally do it. Some though do take longer.
