I had two hens go broody together 40ish days ago. The first 21 days I only gave them 2-3 eggs each and none made it for several reasons (mostly unfertilized eggs). I gave them a bunch more and a couple days ago one of the hens finally gave up and was replaced by another broody. Today, as several chicks were pipping and I was at work, the new broody mom changed her mind as well. So I had 3-4 pipped eggs in tje box all day with no heat. 😭 I checked as soon as I got home, and they’re still alive, though they didn’t progress much. I quickly stuck them under the faithful broody. Question: do I leave them there with her or take them in and out them in my inc’y? It is full of eggs, but I don’t mind raising the humidity for a couple days and turning the others by hand to give these guys a chance to hatch. What would you do?

Eggs are at different stages. I usually keep them there til lockdown then move them to s smaller inc’y to lockdown and hatch. But that inc’y is out on loan right now. I just moved them to mama hen, so not sure how they’re doing.

I’m not worried about messing up my other eggs by a day or 2 of high humidity. Just wondering what’s best for the eggs that pipped today—mama or me?

i would take them in if i were you and just give her some new eggs if she stays good if not you want lose these babies
Yes, I just found a little 7 egg incubator to use. I’ll bring them in and watch them carefully. Thanks for the support! 🙏🏽😊

She’s still sitting on eggs of her own, so she’ll be happy. Hers should hatch soon, too, so when they hatch I’ll give them back to her.
