Ok, I have an EE I call Sunshine, pretty little girl...normally lays greenish eggs...today I went out to coop, and I cant remember if I picked up an egg from her today....I go out and she is in a next box.

Im thinking ok...maybe she didnt lay yet for me...so Im cleaning out in the yard, I go back and she is in the nest box, feathers fluffed out, never have seen that...and she is moving this way and that, moving shavings up on her...thought hmmm ok, so she stands up FINALLY after a bit to change positions and she is ON A DARK BROWN EGG!!!

She kept moving up close to her, and under her...is she wanting to sit on eggs now? Im thinking what the heck, she lays greenish blue eggs....anyone help with this....I took a picture with my cell, let me see if I can up load it.

you can see its not her egg, UNLESS they change the color of eggs they lay....she was pulling it into her body
PULLED THE EGG YESTERDAY, AND I WAS LOOKING AT IT...ITS NOT HER NORMAL GREENISH/BLUE EGG...SHE WAS ON THIS ONE IN THE MIDDLE...THE EGG LOOKS ALMOST PURPLE, HAS A BLUE ISH ...GREEN COLOR....THE ONE ON THE LEFT IS A MARAN EGG, AND HERS TO THE FAR RIGHT. KNOW ITS HARD TO TELL IN PICTURES...BUT IM TELLING YOU THIS IS AN ODD EGG COLOR. LATER I WENT BACK AND THERE WAS HER NORMAL EGG.

I have a hen that does this all the time.
She doesn't care if they're her eggs, some other hen's eggs, wooden eggs, she just acts like that on occasion.
It never lasts, (for my hen) though. She's always up off the nest after a couple hours.
She might be thinking brooding... maybe she's afraid of commitment.

Most of my hens will do that for a little while (up to a couple of hours)...I've even seen my Leghorns push other's eggs or golf balls under them and sit for a while. You'll know she's really broody if she's doing that for a couple days straight. My Silkie went broody for the first time and I put 6 eggs under her...she's been sitting in the same spot since Sunday
