I have three OEGB hens I wanted a broody hen but wanted them to be small so they can set on quail eggs. Is their anything special I can do or is it a hit or miss kinda thing, but in general are they a broody breed? Then do I stick golf balls in the nests and see if they start sitting, if they do how do I put eggs under them? and what if I want to hatch pheasant eggs under them as well any tips. Thanks

With the OEGB's it seems to be a hit or miss with them. I know my OEGBs haven't set, though i've heard of some being pretty broody. Definitely not like the large games... Hoping i can breed the broodiness back into my line somehow by selection or out-crossing with another line that goes broody.

I have a little d'Uccle/Serama hybrid that's gone broody on me again this winter, for the second time. I wish I could make her stop! She lost a lot of weight the last go round and I was worried about her. She's so determined she even tries to brood on the bare, cold ground, or on the bottom of a wire cage.
