One of my Seabrights loves the nest. Every afternoon, around 3:30-4:00 she hops up in the nest for an afternoon nap before she lays her egg. Then at night, she always sleeps in the nest. We always leave one egg in the nest, if we don't they won't lay there again the next day. We've tried golf balls, they don't fall for it. Every night, without fail, she's sleeping in the nest (on the Leghorn's egg). Do hens just like to sleep in nests sometimes? She doesn't chase off the nest easily, just spreads out her tail and says "Bbbrreeeee". Darn hens all think I'm their rooster.

Anyway. Is it normal for some "non-setter" breed hens to like hanging out on eggs?

She just likes sleeping in that nestbox. Bad habit for them to get into, IMO.

Yeah, I can see why one would think it's a bad habit. Luckily she's really little and therefore not difficult to move.

Yah. I think she's got a bad habit. Go in and put her on the perch at night and then make it dark right away so she can't go back into the box when you leave.
