Broody? Or not....

I have a pullet that recently started laying. About a day earlier she disappeared and came back at night! The next day she hung around until noon, and repeated yesterday. I soon found that she was going into the old pheasnt coops and probably had a nest. I was wondering if this counted as broodyness since she dissapeares for so long! Thanks!

No, she is simply wandering after laying the egg. Broody hens will sit on the nest for days at a time, usually only getting up for an hour or less every several days, and will not return to roost at night. It's quite rare for freshly laying pullets to brood, anyways.
