Broody orp, what's next?

That makes sense. Since mine isn't collecting eggs to sit on, hopefully I won't have that probably with her. I'm going to give her three or four eggs from the other ladies and see if she sticks with them. I purposely got orpingtons because I want them to brood, so breaking her just because she's young seems counter- productive to me.

I have to remind myself chickens have been around for a loooong time. They usually know what they are doing :rolleyes:. If she is ready to be a mama then let her do her thing ;)

It's exciting, isn't it? I had a silver spangled hamburg hatch out 4 leghorn/polish crosses. There were several eggs in the nest, but those four were the only ones. Two chicks made it to adulthood, both roosters. One rooster survives and he is king of the flock. His son is a junior rooster although he is about twice the size of his father. It's neat when you've had them since they hatched!
