Broody Pullets

Quote:
Broodies don't typically lay eggs once they have gone into full broody mode. Sounds like you definitely have a broody on your hands.

How long will she be like this? Even without eggs??

That is probably one of the funniest things I have ever heard!
I haven't seen any of our chickens do that. I have seen them nudging the eggs under them though.

Why do you put a plastic egg underneath her???

My girl (a Splash) is just sitting in her box and just sits there all day. She's only 8 months old and she doesn't lay a lot of eggs. It would seem like keeping the egg under her would encourage her to keep being broody. So what do we do? She has been broody for 3 weeks. We take her outside to eat bugs and grass-- she walks around and eats out there. But when we take her inside and place her back in the cage she just goes back to sitting on the ground. She is also not eating or drinking. Im very worried for her.
