A hen that is going broody will some times lay for a few days to build up the number of eggs she sits on and sit on eggs from other hens too. The eggs will be ok for a few days. It's your call but if your rooster is attacking your feet to the point of need to carry a stick with you I'd cull him and get a new rooster that wasn't mean. Aggression is an inherited trait and will be passed on to the sons. Trust me 1 bad roo is a pain 2 or 3 is much worse. There are a lot of nice boys out there and can be had cheap or some times free. I have a one strike rule, you come at me 1 time your gone and will never be allowed to breed at my place. I have neither the time or Patience to be watching out for a rooster. Good boys are best for me and the girls.
