Haha...I thought RIR weren't supposed to go broody, but apparently my girl didn't get that memo. Here's the dilemma, she flew out of the chicken run and large coop to sneak off to the older little coop and I just found her today. She is sitting on 2 eggs and I'm not sure how long she has been there. I pulled her off some eggs in that coop about a week ago (I think) and she was acting broody then. Now I'm wondering if it would just be easier/better to let her hatch them instead of trying to break her. Any thoughts?

And yes, we do have a rooster so most of our eggs are fertile

Thanks!

I think it's easier and more fun to let 'em sit. As long as she's safe where she is, then yay for her.

One of my rir hens just hatched a nice brood of 9 last week. She's the only rir i've had go broody, but she got the brood very heavy, and she did a great job!
