Lol, ino how u feel! He aint broody, he is incouraging YOU to LAY EGGS in his NEST!!!! My roo does that to me to!!!

I was going to say the same thing. My roo did sort of the same thing. Talking and cooning and encouraging his girls. Telling them where the nest is. Soooo paternal!

I think the Roo knows that it's high time the girls start earning their keep and he's showing them where he thinks they should deposit his offspring.

LOL this morning I go out to find one of the golf balls I put in the nesting boxes now located in the "roosters nest" LOL...

thats funny! yeah if she is only 17 weeks be happy if she lays in 3 or 4 weeks be very happy i know you don't want to know this but i have had hens in the past not lay till 9 months old. but it makes their egg production last longer and stronger if you don't rush development. You want happy healthy hens for healthy egg strong eggs no empty pullet shells or soft eggs. Most of my hens don't start laying till 22 to 25 weeks and i have never had a emptyy small egg or soft shelled eggs like you get some times with extra young hens laying.

That sounds too cute, I haven't seen my roo do anything like that... I just got my very first egg at 19.5 weeks. I'm pretty sure it was from my Rhode Island Red pullet. I was actually really surprised because I was sure that my Leghorns would be the first to lay.

My rooster just walks around singing the egg laying song. No eggs... just singing so far. It always looks funny to me to see him doing that, I thought he was confused cause he was the only rooster.
