broody rooster?

So, I recently got a new rooster. He's a year old jersey giant cross. He's spent his whole life being brow beat by a silkie roo. So far he's not crowed the 3 days I've had him and has even blooded chicks each night. They cuddle all up to him. Is he gender confused?
