Hi there I have just joined this site although used for info before. I'm in England and a first time duck owner, have had chickens for a few years. Recently one of my runners went broody and was doing a fab job looking after her eggs until at 15 weeks they got predated, my question is will she become broody again? And would it be this year? I was so excited and now feel rather deflated for her and me!

Any help would be great x

Has the predator problem been resolved? That would be my first priority.

My runners - those who do - only seem to go broody once a year. Some just dabble in broody.

I would breathe, celebrate her efforts, and get the security situation in hand, keep up with the good nutrition, and look forward to next time.

Thanks yes preditor was a magpie but that has been sorted, good for the duck not for the magpie unfortunately but it was constantly taking my chicken eggs before I could get to them and now the duck eggs! Ok so next year maybe, something to look forward to then fingers crossed. Thanks for replying to my post
