I don't think the age will be a huge problem. Just because a chicken is older doesn't mean it has more experience. You will never know until you try, anyways.

Im assuming, by the original post, its just the one hen.. could be wrong tho.I guess I never realized you were saying that was your only hen...I would say get rid of the rooster and let your broody hatch some chicks. She needs friends and if she hatched some it would be easiest, since there would be no trouble with integration of a single hen to others.

Yes there are only two, don’t have a lot of room in the backyard due to a big lake so made a little area for them. I am going to get another hen soon.Im assuming, by the original post, its just the one hen.. could be wrong tho.
