I have about a dozen wild swamp chickens of mixed heritage, mostly Game, Malay, and RIR. Problem with them is that they spend more time broody than laying eggs. I've tried everything I've read about here to break broodiness to no avail. The only thing that works temporarily is chicken jail. They will lay for a couple weeks, then get broody for a month or 2. I put them in wire bottom cage on the 2nd day I catch them acting broody. Usually keep them in jail for several days and then put them back with the others after they lay an egg. Half the time as soon as i put them in pen, they make a beeline for the nests. Now to the current problem, I have 3 in jail now, and have 6 that are stacked like pancakes in 2 nests and I can't hardly pry them out. I'm not crazy about having more than 1-2 in jail at a time. I've gone from about a dozen eggs a day, to 1 or 2 eggs per day. If my spring pullets ever make up their minds to start dropping some eggs, I'll turn the Wild Swamp Chickens into freezer chickens. I've had Silkies and Orps that have never been this bad about being broody. Besides, I'm getting tired because all they wanna do is fight, f***, and be broody. Any advise is welcome. Somebody must have a solution. Thanks
