broody wouldn't break. UPDATE have given her some eggs. due 10/12

i finished off the broody box tonite & she is happily parked up in there with her eggs now. its not flash but its predator proof & big enuf so that when they hatch they can start to explore. but have a sheltered end if it rains.

You have to cool the under belly. You can just give a quick dip. You have to soak the under belly and cool them down. It will not hurt them. They just do not like it very much. But it does work but you may have to do more than once if they are intent on sitting.

well here she is happy in her new recycled coup.

Tin on roof & two sides for shelter & an opening door on this side. this end is off the ground.
netting around the rest but not on the ground so when they hatch they can come out & scratch around.

we had a broody Buff Orp that tried very hard for about 6 weeks to hatch nothing. I never tried the water soaking or wire mesh nest box, I just took her off the nest box 4-5 times a day and made sure she ate and drank when she came off. One morning when I opened up the coop door, she was the first to come out. Ever since, she has been fine. I had read horror stories about it lasting up to 6 months, so I'm glad it was only 6 weeks!

yea ive had 4 go clucky this season the 1st a BO came off after 3 days in the wire cage the other 2 a shaver & a light sussex also came off the cluck easy but miss banty refused to so i gave her some eggs hopefully they are from the orp hens & i have a SLW roo so it will be interesting what they come out like. if they hatch.

candled her eggs tonite & have 3 moving 2 not sure & 1 not developed. i was hoping for a better result than that.
