broody

I really don't care if we lived in the middle of 15 acreas , with huge barn for them . My FLOCK will not free range . To many things can happen when you least expect it to .

Learned my lesson from chickens being stolen . Heard to many horror stories of hawks , bears , ETC.

If I am going to keep these many , they will be in a secured pen and coop ....

Raised 3 sets of chicks . 15 from hatching under a broody hen and I bought my 1st. batch of 30 - 1 week old chicks
and the broody days for hens are over . THEY can sit on golf balls from now on .

Feed is way to expensive to have to feed them 5 to 8 months until they decide to lay .

I buy mine about 4 months old and its alot easier .

i just researched and found a website that made the hens go broody by putting wooden eggs under the hen, and when she got broody, they switched the wooden eggs with real eggs and she hatched them. that sounded smart. thanks for all the help, you guys! i'm so lucky i have back yard chickens!
