Broody?

[My First Time Farm]

Ok so I have this sapphire gem and she has been making broody noises when eating with other chickens but when she is alone and everything no noises no puffing up nothing. She won't really sit on eggs except to lay but she does seem to sit on the nesting boxes more then one time a day. This has been going on for a week or 2 and it's weird. Also she puffs up like a broody hen and she makes those chirping sound like a broody hen, but like I said it's only when she's around other chickens, for example eating. I wonder if she's trying to go broody but not quite ready or not? Idk it's weird.

She could be going broody, but I had a hen who did a similar thing awhile back. She never went broody, she just "talked" about being broody, but never acted on it. She did that for maybe a month, but then another one of my hens went broody, and suddenly she had nothing to do with this broody talk.

I think she might be thinking about it. my satin would start with the ticking timer cluck cluck for a few days then escalate to the screech in another few. Then the screech will grow in volume day by day until it becomes full banshee and that’s when she is ready to sit again. Takes about 1-2 weeks.

on the other hand, my other hen went broody with zero warning, went into the nesting box one morning and never came out
