Mrsodell,
How exciting, Congrats on your 1st broody! Ive allowed my broodies to set both ways. What has worked best for me is too move her (at night) to a secured private area. That way is much less stressful for the hen, chicks, and me ) I have an area (5x8) of my pen sectioned off with welded wire and rabbit wire to keep the chicks secured. Inside there is a small igloo dog house with wood shavings. Right now in the sanctuary, I have a dutch bantam with 6 chicks that hatched Friday. I also have a cornish hen with 3 chicks that are almost 2 weeks old- her chicks are unknowns, as the eggs could have been laid by Eenie, Meenie , Miney or Mo, and their Rooster Daddy could be Curly, Larry, or Moe
