Its not just drunk drivers... They check the registration and inspection too... Also seat belts if your required to have them....

I've had fun here in NY with the seat belt laws.... Law requires any car 74 or newer that the driver be wearing the full belt system... the style just about every one is used to these days.... I had a 1970 car and only had a lap belt. I always wore the lap belt..... Every stinking check I went thru I was asked to pull to the side, it got old, cause I knew more about the laws than the officers... I always had to ask for a supervisor.... Every stinking time.......

I so miss that car....

I was 17. It was also the night we found out my 19 yo brother was arrested. He lives in a different state.

when I was in my 20's with my best friend they used to set these check points up on the beach-front road, my friend and I would go park at a hotel near the check point and eat and watch the fools getting caught!

I've been through them, I dont remember how old I was the first time. Like one of the other posters I have fun with the seat belt laws. I have a 1963 F-100 that does not require me to wear seat belts at all. Get pulled over for it on occasion. Never get a ticket for it. I do have to wear the belts in the Chrysler Cordoba (it has a 3 point harness anyway) and in the ole ratty 95 Dodge Caravan.

Never have been through one
