picked up 7 black australorps(1 boy,6 girls) today at meyer hatchery and they had appx. 200 "leftover" chix for sale. RIR, turkens and delawares. suckered myself into a couple of delawares(straight runs-hope they're girls) as I have 1 delaware pullet now(6 mo) and she is sweet so..... bedroom is peeping and warm.

Awww! You're still doing better than me. I have 19 brooding and 12 due to hatch in 2 days

They're not little long enough!!

And it seems they have all eaten/drank so thats good. the 2 delawares were hatched saturday and the 7 BA were hatched valentine days so names will be according to that(and yes, the plan is to possibly eat some of the BA's but we'll see) in the meantime-happy chix! it WAS hard walking away from grabbing more chix but my adult chicken space is limited just yet and this summer will have to expand(oh no-watch out for fertile eggs-wanted to try a broody hen for next year)

I love it-- I planned initially on having only three....

I'm planning on picking up 14 chicks tomorrow morning... I think.. that's if Im able to control myself.

hee hee...
