Okay, thanks but I think it’s something growing on them. It’s looks like a wart. And each of my hens that have it just have one and all in the same place.Look at feeders and waterers or wire fencing in the coop or run where they could be cutting their beaks on it. These kinds of feeders below, even the plastic ones may have a sharp surface that needs filing down. Also fencing can cut if they poke beaks through. Are you seeing scabs anywhere else?

Yes we do. They don’t seem to have any of the symptoms they just have one wart and all in the same place. They seem to act normal except the shake their heads every once in a while as if it bothers them.Do you have a Avian vet near you?
It looks like Papillomatosis. Are they experiencing any symptoms? Is there any lesions in the mouth? Is it hard or squishy?

ThanksI would take them to the vet.
Any other ideas?View attachment 1156887 Hey everyone, I have 10 silkies that are 7 months old. And recently 3 of them got a weird brown bubble/scab above their beaks and I couldn’t find anything about it. Please help! Thanks so much!
Thanks so much!Hello Kordel Yoder, I have not seen this in my chickens. But am always wanting to learn more about their care. I found this thread here on BYC, apparently it happens quite a lot.
You can compare the pics with yours. It seems to be caused by the herpes virus.
I would apply a lysine ointment, which is good for combating viruses.

Well, then it may be a papillomavirus or wart. These can affect the beaks in some chickens, and many report that theirs eventually have fallen off. They are very similar to wart on people caused by human paillomavirus. Many animals have their own type. There is no treatment for most viruses, so probably not much you can do. The reason I asked about lesions elsewhere is that the picture resembles fowl pox scabs, another virus spread by mosquitoes. But it you are only seeing it on the beaks, it is more than likely papillomavirus. Here is more info about it:Okay, thanks but I think it’s something growing on them. It’s looks like a wart.
