Brown Chick

I have never, in my 10 years of experience with chickens/chicks, ever hatched a full brown chick without it being black w/brown leakage.

I do know that brown chicks exist, but with the combo this one is out of, I had no idea it was possible.

Dad is a Ayam Cemani-Sebright mix, and mom is a Buff Sebright.

I’m not against having brown chicks, I’m just confused on how the genetics add up!

I have no experience with this crossing.

But I can take a guess.

Maybe since the parents both have Sebright, & their coloration is Birchen Based.

Maybe somewhere somebody is carrying Db, or Dark Brown,(Turns Black Down Brown)which is causing this coloration of chick down. Just an educated guess.


Though I know partridge can create something similar.
