brown chinese gosling with a twisted neck?

I wanted to get this on here about feeding chick starter to goslings. When doing so please give the waterfowl, ducks or geese brewer's yeast mixed into your chick starter. I know it is somewhere in here on the mixture I think it is 1 cup to 50 pounds of feed. But just sprinkling over the feed when given would be fine as well. Just as long as they are getting the niacin and vitamins extra that they need, that chick starter does not have.
As I have read not everyone can purchase water fowl crumbles or gamebird crumbles. So remember if you feed chick starter to add brewer's yeast made for animals. You can also use poly visol vitamins, NO IRON.....
Feeding chick starter alone the ducklings or goslings get weak legs and can cause neurology problems. This may even cause the neck to twist.

Thanks Ruru. My duckling sam had started showing signs that her legs were weak so I supplemented her feed with some oats and brewers. She is fat, happy and stable on her feet now. I will start Precious the goose on the Brewers now too.

My Precious and Cartman in their day bed. Yeah that's my front porch. They are a bit dirty from playing in the puddles.

So far, he can stick his neck out almost straight just to drink, the it curls back. Can I try to put some kind of neck brace on him to keep it straight? His neck is more limber now that I started the poly-vi-sol drops. It seemed very stiff at first, but now when I rub his neck to get the medicine down, it seems to move easier. He is also quite the spitter. The first time I tried it, He spit everything back out. He has a... voracious appitite. He lays between the feeder and the waterer and eats and drinks without moving. Then he will reposition himself and stretch a little farther for more (whith a straight neck I might add.) I had him out in the grass and he was chasing butterflies. When that didnt work, he ate all the grass in his reach.

Do you think a neck brace might help that, as he keeps growing, the muscles will grow properly? Or do I need to be more patient with the poly-vi-sol?

Thanks RuRu... I buy waterfowl starter crumbles from a local feed store that grows and mixes it themselves without chemicals. He works one on one with you and if you aren't sure, he helps you along. It's pretty cool. He owns the business, and has been doing this for almost 50 years! He is one of the nicest men you will ever meet. ( He is also loves cookies, and will take some off your bill if you bring him some haha)

I don't think a neck brace would work, but maybe someone else can see it working, I'd try Nutri drench in his water it is formulated for poultry that way he has a constant supply of vitamins and they are made for water fowl and other poultry. it can also be given straight. directions on the bottle. Great news your seeing progress I know that makes you happy.

Any updates on slinky? This is exactly the same thing that happened with my Tilly. She was fine then a week later she looks exactly like him. She can straighten her neck but only short periods. I know it's been a long time but I'm praying you see this
