They say brown eggs are hard to see when candling. On 8th day, the eggs looks red and dark yolk. I am not seeing any veins, or darker spots. what else should I look for? If they look the same in two more days should I throw them out?

Regular brown eggs, like RIR, are not the problem. Dark FBCM eggs are very hard to candle. I usually just wait until lockdown to candle and that makes it much easier.

Do you have a good flashlight? It makes a huge difference. I could see everything in mine. The maran eggs were a little harder to see.

Here is an egg at day 10. I made my candler out of a shop lamp with a 65 watt mini halogen bulb. I lined the inside if the cardboard with foil. Works great.

So 21 days is here. I have a feeling its not going to hatch. they could be not fertilized or bad eggs.

but I will let them in their incubator for few more days and see what happens..
